Ronald F.
"Ron" Martere enlisted in the Army in January 1961.
Attended BCT in Fort Dix, New Jersey, and armor training in Fort
Hood, Texas. He also served with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Armored
divisions, 3rd and 8th Infantry division. He attended Drill Sergeants
School and the Armored Advance Course in Fort Knox, Kentucky
Ron served as
senior gunnery instructor at USAARMS, Fort Knox, Kentucky Shot with
4th AD AMU, 3rd AD AMU, USAREUR MTU, U.S. CENTO Team, 5th USAMTU, and
the USAMU-NTG.
Ron was awarded
the Distinguished
Pistol Shot Badge in 1976.
Assigned to USAMU
as the head coach for Service Pistol Branch and National Trophy Group
from 1980-1984. He retired as a master sergeant in December 1984.
Ron graduated from
Columbus College and subsequently worked for the Army Research
Institute and Defense Contractors developing small arms simulators
for the DOD, DOE, and NATO Forces until 2001.
Currently resides
with his wife, Brigitte, and his dog, Spike, in Columbus, Georgia. |
