Arpad Tamas

Retired Sergeant First Class Arpad Tamas, 65, of Phenix City, died Thursday, August 30, 2001.

SFC Tamas was born May 10, 1936, in Hungary, the son of the late Therese Iraghi Tamas and Josef Tamas.

SFC Tamas retired from the U.S. Army with 22 years of service. He served in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Star, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Combat Infantryman Badge, three Overseas Bars, Meritorious Service Medal, and Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the USAMU Retired Service Rifle Shooters.
