Taps, Present Arms

Wilfried K. Pohl

Sergeant First Class Wilfried K. Pohl, 73, died August 4, 2003, in Columbus, Georgia.

SFC Pohl was a pistol shooter assigned to the Third Army Marksmanship Training Unit (MTU) and with the USAMU National Trophy Group in the mid to late 1970s. He earned the U.S. Army Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge in 1979. SFC Pohl retired from the Army with 21 years of military service.

Upon his retirement from the Army, he was involved in a number of civic organizations including the Citizen's Law Enforcement Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 665, Heimatland Klub (German Club), South Columbus Concerned Citizens, and was a volunteer with the Columbus Sports Council.
