Buckley T. Norris


SFC Buckley T. Norris, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama, died January 19, 2012.

SFC Norris began his shooting career in 1965 and was selected as a member of the 5th Army Rifle Team from 1965 to 1967. Following a tour in Vietnam, he was assigned to the USAMU Service Rifle Team from 1968 to 1969. His shooting accomplishments include: member of the winning 1966 National Trophy Team at the National Matches; coach of the winning Civilian Team in the Infantry Trophy Team Match at Camp Perry, Ohio; coach of the South American winning team at the Panama Matches; and firing member of several national record-setting teams.

His military service awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, U.S. Army Distinguished Riflemen Badge (1965), and the President's Hundred Tab.

After retirement from the Army, Buckley worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
