Sergeant (Retired) Donald W. Jaynes, 76, Service Pistol
Shooter, died May 23, 2010 in Rising Star, Texas.
Donald
was born on December 6, 1933 in Rising Star, Texas, and retired from
the United States Army after 20-years of service to his country.
During
the Korean War, he was assigned to C Troop, 9th Reconnaissance
Squadron, 1st Cavalry Division (DMZ) and was a Platoon Sergeant
in Company C, 1st Battalion (Swamp Rats), 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st
Infantry Division (Big Red One) during the Vietnam War. As an
Infantryman, his most valued military award was the Combat
Infantryman Badge.
Donald
was assigned to the U. S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) Service
Pistol Team at Fort Benning, Georgia and later assigned to the Fourth
Army Marksmanship Training Unit (MTU) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He
was a member of the NRA 2600 Pistol Club and was awarded the U. S.
Army Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge
in 1959. |
