Sergeant First
Class Thomas A. Tamas, is an international rifle shooter with the
U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Georgia. SFC Tamas was
raised in Columbus, Georgia, and graduated from Kendrick High School
in 1983. After joining the Army in 1986, Tamas was assigned to the
U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU). He served with the USAMU for
seven years before being assigned in 1992 to the 1st Battalion, 506th
Infantry Regiment, in Korea. After his overseas tour, Tamas returned
to Fort Benning and the USAMU in 1993.
SFC Tamas has
completed the following military training: Basic and Infantry
Training, Primary Leadership Development Course, Instructor Training
Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, and Combat Lifesaver
Course. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, eight Army
Commendation Medals, and four Army Achievement Medals.
