Class Kevin McMahon, a service rifle shooter assigned to the U.S.
Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Georgia.
SFC McMahon, a
California native, graduated from James Logan High School in Union
City, Calif., in 1981, and continued his civilian education at Flo
Valley, St. Louis, Mo. His military training includes Basic and
Indirect Fire Infantry Training, Airborne School, Machinist Training,
Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers
Course, and Instructor Training Course.
Kevin joined the
Army in December 1982 and served as an ammunition bearer, assistant
gunner, radio telephone operator, and gunner while assigned to the
1st Battalion, 504th Infantry, 82nd (Airborne) Infantry Division. His
next assignment was with the 5th U.S. Army Marksmanship Training Unit
where he served as an instructor and shooter. He left the service in
December 1986 and joined the Army Reserves in March 1987 where he
served as a machinist, ambulance driver, and clerk typist with
additional duties as a shooter and instructor for the 102nd Army
Reserve Command, 5th Army and all Reserve rifle teams. He left the
Reserves to join the regular Army again in May 1993, and was assigned
to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Ga. His awards and
decorations include the Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge,
Distinguished Rifleman Badge, and President's Hundred Tab.
