As of this writing, the long HOT days of summer have arrived to West Central Georgia. Man is it HOT!
United States Olympic Committee Hall of Fame: As you all may know by now, LTC (Ret) Lones Wigger was selected and inducted into the USOC Hall of Fame. Rumor has it that he attained the highest vote total of any other athlete. Way to go Lones!
USAMU/MMA Reunion 2008: Reunion planning continues between USAMU and the MMA. Our reunion execution dates remain 16-18 October 2008 with the USAMU Hall of Fame induction ceremony as the highlight. Initial registration begins on 16 October, coupled with the USAMU "Open House" and culminating with individual section dinners. October 17th continues with the USAMU Open House, range firing, and final reunion registration. We will then conduct a MMA General Membership meeting and finish the afternoon events with a hamburger and hotdog welcome picnic. October 18th begins with the section Hall of Fame inductions, followed by a shooting demo, USAMU Hall of Fame inductions, and finishing with a chicken and ribs barbecue. With the price of fuel "out of this world" today, we are offering the welcome picnic and the barbecue FREE of charge to all current MMA members. Non-members will pay $15 for their meals. The USAMU store will provide hats, pins, T-shirts, and other items for sale during this event. Official reunion registration packets will be mailed out in early July, which will allow time for your positive response. Hope to see you' all there!
50th Anniversary Yearbook: As you know the yearbook has been sold out. MMA is in negotiations with Turner Publishing to have a reprint done in the near future. Hopefully, this will happen; with the books available for purchase by the October reunion. Stay tuned.
New MMA Life Members: I would like to recognize our newest MMA Life members: Rock M. Soike, Shotgun and J. Tim Partin, Service Rifle. Thanks for your commitment and dedication to your association. Hooah!
2008 USA Olympic Team Selections: A big HOOAH goes out to the six soldiers selected for the 2008 USA Olympic Shooting Team: MAJ Anti (IR), SFC Parker (IR), SFC Szarenski (IP) SPC Holguin (SG), SPC Eller (SG), and PFC Hancock (SG). Best of luck toward your quest for the GOLD!
