Let me first say that it is a distinct honor to become the President
of our organization and to again serve ALL members of USAMU both past
and present. The Military Marksmanship Association is
relatively new compared to USAMU but no less important. But, of
course, without USAMU we would not continue to add to our rolls.
Ron Martere, our new Vice President, and I look forward with great
excitement to our term of service. Again, its a great
honor to serve and thanks for your vote.
My second order of business is to recognize the other members of the
Executive Board for their untiring dedication to our organization.
"Red" Mosely, our Secretary, has been instrumental in
keeping the new President and VP on the correct azimuth. He
also runs our superb web site that keeps us all informed.
Sam Hunter, our Treasurer and number cruncher extraordinaire, runs a
tight checkbook and maintains outstanding accountability of all our assets.
Dick Rebidue, our membership mister, continues to update our ever
increasing membership directory and constantly searches for new
members. We could probably do away with Dicks job if we
were ALL life members!
Carter Berry, our newsletter editor, took on the tasks of publishing
our newsletter in spite of having a full time job. Our MMA
Times maintains the connection to our extended MMA family
around the world. The newsletter adds a great touch of class to
an outstanding organization.
Phil Cannella, a past MMA President, continues to advise the board
and provides untiring behind the scenes logistical support to our
organization. We could not execute our mission without
volunteer support such as Phils.
Steve Goff, our Historian, has a lot of work ahead to keep track of
ALL the great accomplishments both past and present. Thanks for
serving as the past VP.
"Arch" Arnold, the direct past MMA President (2003-2005),
continued to advise the board and provided valuable behind the scenes
support wherever he was needed.
Last but not least is our outgoing President (2005-2007), Bruce
Meredith. Bruce will continue to advise the new President in
the upcoming term but Id like to comment on his superb
leadership over the past several years. Our 50th Anniversary
Reunion was simple spectacular. The entire organization
untiredly supported his efforts which resulted in a great weekend of
events, culminating with an outstanding banquet at the Iron Works in
downtown Columbus, Georgia. Bruce led the reunion committee and
never looked back to include the initiation of the Life Member
program for the organization. His efforts produced 63 LIFE
members by the reunion timeframe. He also continues to
coordinate the publication and delivery of our 50th Anniversary Book
which, as of our last meeting, should ship to us by the end of March
2007. Bruce, thanks for your untiring support and I look
forward working with you in the future.
Some upcoming projects MMA will undertake include:
-
Maintaining the MMA Membership Directory, recently mailed FEB 2007
-
Over watching the publication of the 50th Anniversary Book, MAR 2007
-
Attending the Distinctive Unit Insignia, Guide-on, and unit colors ceremony
-
Soldier of the Year Ceremony, JAN 2008
-
Input to the USAMU Hall of Fame criteria
-
USAMU Hall of Fame selections and 2008 reunion
-
USAMU Change of Command, 0930 hours, 23 MAY 2007
Again, thanks for your confidence; I look forward to a bright future
for our association.
Respectfully,
Bob Hoidahl
MMA President
