Carter Berry was
born and raised in Northeast Arkansas. In 1972, he was commissioned a
Second Lieutenant of Infantry upon graduation from the University of
Arkansas (Woooo, Pig! Sooooie!). Carter served primarily in Infantry
and Special Forces assignments, with the exception of a few staff
officer positions, during his 22 year Army career.
Carter was the
Operations Officer for USAMU in 1993 and 1994, a period of
significant transition for the unit. He has been involved with the
Association since its beginning and has been a member of the
Executive Board since his retirement. Carter was the Public Affairs
Chairman and "Times" Editor for two years, then the
Association's Vice President for two years, and for the past six
years he has resumed the duties as the Association's Public Affairs
Chairman and "Times" Editor.
Carter recently
"un-retired" and works at Fort Benning with the Dismounted
Battlespace Battle Lab as a Simulation Technician. In his spare time
he volunteers his services with the Greater Columbus Sports and
Events Council and is a volunteer off-ice official for the Southern
Professional Hockey League (SPHL) during Columbus
"Cottonmouths" hockey games. During Spring and Summer
evenings you will find him at Golden Park in the left field bleachers
watching the Columbus professional baseball team. Although not a
connoisseur, he is an aficionado who enjoys a fine handmade cigar
every now and then. Carter and his wife Suzie live in Columbus. |
