The
Association's newsletter, MMA
Times,
is published to keep the membership informed of significant USAMU
and Association events - past, present, and future.
The first
Times was published in August 1994. It is currently published four
times a year. Normally, each issue has six pages, but can vary
between four and eight pages. Inserts from other sources are
sometimes included.
Articles come
from the membership and the USAMU. The MMA President and the USAMU
Commander write columns for most issues. Our membership contributes
anecdotes and stories for most issues. These are a valued additions
to each issue and help to add a personal touch to the newsletter.
Additionally, Executive Board members report on significant
Association events and edited USAMU PAO articles from other
publications are included. Obituaries are published in the Taps,
Present Arms
column when the Association learns about the passing of a member of
the marksmanship community.
All members
are encouraged to send articles or information for publication
directly to the Times Editor, Historian, or to any Executive Board
member. Send them by U.S. Postal Service or send them by E-mail, but
please share your stories with the membership. For example, stories
of past unit events, shooters, coaches, gunsmiths, matches, shooting
trips, war stories, or anything you believe would be of interest to
the Association's membership are welcome. If an event was humorous or
significant then, it surely will bring back memories to many of our
members now. Write your recollections on a scratch pad or put them on
a computer disk, but just get your stories to us. And don't worry
about your writing style, we want to hear it in your own words!
Copies of past
issues of the Times are on file in the Association's office at the
USAMU Headquarters building. To keep the printing cost down, we only
print enough copies for current members plus a few copies to issue to
new members joining the next quarter. Therefore, back issues of the
Times, particularly the earlier issues, are limited or no longer
available for replacement.
From
time-to-time we will feature articles from the Times at this page.
