Annual
Membership Meeting - January 2007
1. Annual Meeting: The Annual Membership Meeting of the
Military Marksmanship Association was held January 19, 2007, at Pool
Indoor Range, Fort Benning, Georgia.

e. Call to Order: A quorum being present,
the President called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m.
2. Presidents Welcome: The President welcomed and
thanked all for attending the meeting. He remarked that the
50th USAMU/MMA Reunion was a total success. He thanked the Commander,
staff, and soldiers of the USAMU for their support and assistance. He
also thanked members of the MMA Executive Board for their work
leading up to and during the reunion. He made special note of Phil
Cannella for coordinating the refreshments at the reunion and for
this annual meeting and also thanked him for again donating the door
prizes. The President then recognized the USAMU Operations Officer.
3. USAMU Commanders Report: CPT Barrow noted that the
Commander was not able to attend because of a prior commitment. He
relayed the Commanders pledged of continued USAMU cooperation
and support of the MMA. He also thanked the MMA for helping the USAMU
to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the unit.
4. Unfinished Business: None.
5. New Business:
a. Presidents Briefing:

The President noted that the MMA had an active web site and e-mail
list managed by our Secretary, Red Mosely, which allowed
members to contact their Executive Board.

The President stated that the MMA was financially solid and was in
the good hands of our Treasurer, Sam Hunter.

The President thanked Dick Rebidue for his service as Membership
Committee Chairman. He noted that MMA was at 656 members and now has
a Life Membership category. He thanked all 64 MMA Life Members who
had elected to become a Life Member.

The President recognized Carter Berry for his outstanding skill in
publishing the MMA Times and cited the recent 10-page reunion issue
as an example.

The President thanked anyone not mentioned for his or her
contribution in making the reunion a success.

The President gave a status update on the 50th anniversary book and
said delivery was scheduled for March 2007.
b. Soldier of the Year Award: The
President showed a slide listing previous MMA Soldier of the Year
recipients. He showed a slide of the each nominee for 2006 MMA
Soldier of the Year listing their accomplishments:

The President made a special point to tell the attendees how
qualified each nominee was and how much deliberation took place by
the MMA board before a winner was chosen. He then announced that Sergeant
First Class Shawn Waller, Custom Gun Shop, is the MMA Soldier of the
Year for 2006. The award for Soldier of the Year was a Military
and Police model, caliber .40 pistol donated by Smith & Wesson Corporation.
c. Special Thanks: The President again
thanked all members for attending. He also thanked the USAMU
Operations Section for their assistance. He specifically thanked Phil
Cannella and William Doug Duncan for volunteering to
order and set up the refreshments. Finally, he noted that Smith &
Wesson Corporation had again donated the pistol for the Soldier of
the Year award and thanked them for their continued support of the MMA.
d. Installation of MMA Officers: The
outgoing president, Bruce Meredith, thanked the MMA for the support
given to him over the past two years, and asked the incoming
president, Robert I. Hoidahl, Jr., to chair the remainder of the
meeting. The new President presented the other officers of the MMA
Executive Board: Ronald F. Martere, Vice President; Laurence
Red Mosely, Secretary; and Samuel Hunter, Treasurer. He
noted the Carter Berry, MMA Time Editor, and Richard Rebidue,
Membership, had agreed to continue in their respective positions. The
President then called the outgoing president before the membership
and presented him with a token gift certificate from the association.
e. Door Prizes: Members enjoyed a few
laughs as a number of unique gag door prizes were awarded. Past
President Phil Cannella donated the door prizes. The grand prize door
prize was a caliber .177 air rifle donated by Crossman, Corporation.
The incoming MMA President, Robert I. Hoidahl, Jr, presented the
grand prize to SPC Matthew T. Wallace of the Shotgun Section.
6. Adjournment:
The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
