Minutes of the Meeting
April 2002

1. Monthly Meeting: The monthly Executive Board meeting of the Military Marksmanship Association was held on April 17, 2002, in the Army Marksmanship Conference Room.

    a. Board Members Present:

        Phillip F. Cannella, Jr., President
        Laurence K. Mosely, Recording Secretary
        Samuel W. Hunter, Treasurer
        Carter Berry, Public Affairs Committee Chairman and MMA Times Editor
        Richard D. Rebidue, Membership Committee Chairman

    b. Board Members Absent:

        Richard N. Hawkins, Vice President
        Ken Hamill, Chairman, Historical Committee Chairman, and MMA Historian

    c. U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Representative: Robert Aylward, Deputy

    d. Call to Order: A quorum being present, the President called the meeting to order at 1115 hours.

2. Treasurer's Report: Motion made, seconded, and carried to approve the Treasurers Report for February and March 2002. Additionally, the Treasurer provided a financial preview for April.

3. Minutes: Motion made, seconded, and carried to approve the Minutes of the Executive Board Meeting for February 2002. The Secretary noted that he had prepared a memorandum notifying DCA that the March meeting had been cancelled and that he would attach to it the Treasurer's Report for March.

4. Unfinished Business: The President noted that several items were still not completed in the incorporation of the association. Mr. Hunter added that the check for the attorney's fee had not been cashed. The President remarked that he would try to resolve the issue before the next meeting.

5. New Business:

    a. Complimentary Remarks: The President thanked the members of the Executive Board for their work in preparing for and conducting the Annual Meeting. He also complimented Mr. Berry for his work in publishing the MMA Times.

    b. USAMU Report: Mr. Aylward briefed the board on the following items.

    (1) The new USAMU ammunition bunker is approximately 80 percent completed.

    (2) USAMU will conduct a "fun" golf tournament on the 3rd of May. MMA members are invited to participate.

    (3) The Deputy expressed an interest in how USAMU obtained the Army Battle Flag that was displayed in the Commander's office in past years. He asked that the MMA membership be queried to see if anyone could provide background information.

    (4) USAMU will host the Service Pistol Interservice Championship at Phillips Range during the period 15-20 June.

    c. Next MMA Reunion: The board selected the weekend of 18-20 October 2002 for the next MMA Reunion. Mr. Aylward indicated that USAMU would celebrate the 46th anniversary of the unit's organization and conduct a Hall of Fame induction during the period. In response to an inquiry by the USAF Association to hold a joint reunion, the board decided against the proposal but would extend an invitation to their membership to attend our reunion.

6. Next Meeting: The next Executive Board Meeting will be held at 1100 hours on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, in the USAMU Conference Room, Building 243, Fort Benning, Georgia.

7. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 1230 hours.
