Minutes of the Meeting
July 2001
1. Monthly Meeting: The monthly
Executive Board meeting of the Military Marksmanship Association was
held on July 18, 2001, in the Army Marksmanship Conference Room.

d. Call to Order:
A quorum being present, the President called the meeting to order at
1115 hours.
2. Treasurer's Report: None.
3. Minutes: A memorandum addressed to
the DCA noted that the June Meeting was not conducted. The June
Financial Statement, approved by the Executive Board, was attached to the memorandum.
4. Unfinished Business:
a. Membership Initiative:
The Board discussed the response to membership display tested
at the Interservice Championship match. It was noted that while
there was some interest in the display, no new members joined
the association at the match. The Board agreed to continue testing
the membership display material at the upcoming Fall Selection Matches.
b. Incorporation:
The President reported that he had scheduled an exploratory meeting
with an attorney to discuss the requirements for incorporation.
He asked the Secretary to provide him with a copy of the
associations Constitution and Bylaws and other documents authorizing
the association to operate at Fort Benning.
5. New Business:
a. USAMU Report:
(1) The USAMU Deputy
reported that funding had been approved to build a climate
controlled ammunition bunker.
(2) The Deputy
announced the dates of several major matches at Fort Benning: The 300-meter U.S
National Championships, 24-27 August; Fall Selection Matches, 24-30
September; and the Championship of the Americas in October
(dates TBA).
(3) The USAMU Deputy
noted that the Commander had questioned the authority for
Army Flag with battle streamers located in his office. He asked
the Board if anyone could recall how the flag was obtained. It
was suggested that the membership be queried via the MMA Times.
(4) The USAMU Deputy
reported that USAMU shooters on the Armed Forces CISM Team were
instrumental in winning the overall championship and returning the
trophy dueling pistols to the United States. He remarked that
Major Goff was the CISM Rifle Champion firing a 588 score.
b. MMA Times: Mr.
Berry stated that input for the September issue of the MMA Times
was due not later than August 17th and that mailing would take
place at 1100 hours, Friday, August 31st in the USAMU Conference Room.
c. Donation:
The President reported that Mrs. Naomi Sharpe had donated $100.00 to
the association in memory of Fred Keifer.
d. Video
Equipment Display: SFC Finch, USAMU Automation Manager, displayed
video recording equipment that the association could use for
interviews. He noted that the association would be required to
provide their own tapes.
6. Next Meeting: The next Executive
Board Meeting will be held at 1100 hours on Wednesday, August
15, 2001 in the USAMU Conference Room, Building 243, Fort Benning, Georgia.
7. Adjournment: The meeting was
adjourned at 1205 hours.
