Sharpe Hall, Headquarters, United States Army Marksmanship Unit
U.S. Army Photo

Here is a recent photograph of Building 243, the current USAMU headquarters.  For those of you who have not been back to Fort Benning and remember the old wooden World War II buildings that housed AMU, building 243 was part of the original hospital complex before the construction of the current installation hospital, Martin Army Hospital.  Building 243 was dedicated August 18, 1996 as Sharpe Hall in honor of Colonel Thomas J. Sharpe, first Commander of the unit.

Plans are on the drawing board for a new USAMU headquarters building to be completed by 2009.  The new headquarters is planned for a site in the vicinity of  the Shotgun Range and Pool International Range.
