Stephen C. Goff started shooting in JROTC at Leavenworth, Kansas, High School where he graduated in 1976.  He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Automotive Technology from Pittsburg (Kansas) State University in 1980.  Steve entered active duty in May 1980 as an Ordnance officer, and was assigned to the 19th Support Command, Korea.

Assigned to the USAMU International Rifle section in December 1981, Steve established himself as world class Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) shooter winning his first rapid fire title in 1983.  He also earned the U.S. Army Distinguished Rifleman Badge in 1983.

After attending the Ordnance Officer Advanced Course, Steve was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado.  Returning to the AMU in May 1986, he was a member of seven consecutive CISM teams, winning both individual and team medals.

Steve was a member of the United States gold medal winning team at the 1990 World Shooting Championships in Moscow, Russia, and was awarded the United States Distinguished International Shooter Badge.

Steve also earned the U.S. Army Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge in 1992 to become one of only 13 Army shooters to be come Triple Distinguished.

Later in 1992, Steve left active duty but continued shooting for the All Guard Team.  Recalled back to active duty in 1994, Steve served at the USAMU until he retired in 2001 with the rank of Major.

Steve was a member of two World Championship Teams, two Championships of the Americas Teams, and one Pan American Team, winning nine individual and 12 team medals.  Additionally, Steve earned a berth on 12 CISM teams where he won seven individual and 23 team medals.

He continues to shoot today as a member of the National Team.  Goff resides in Columbus, Georgia, close to his shooting friends at the USAMU.
