Competition News
Lets
face it. Competitive shooting articles in the local press are far
and few between. There are exceptions, however, such as the
Association's hometown newspaper. The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer newspaper
reports not only match results but has frequently published in depth
feature articles about USAMU shooters. Around the country, as your
feedback indicates, there is little or no coverage. And often, if
competitive results are published, they are not timely.
The
MMA is not able to act as a clearing house for all competitive
events. There are other shooting bodies that are better staffed to do
that. On the other hand, photographs and news stories about USAMU
shooters have been seen on a number of major Internet web sites. You
will find comprehensive coverage on USA
Shooting and International
Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).
The
MMA's main interest is how well USAMU shooters did. With this in
mind, the MMA requested that we be included on the USAMU Public
Affairs distribution list and we will get the same press releases
that are sent to the media world-wide. Please note that these
articles are not written for us. They are the same articles that
inform the nation's press and Army staff about the accomplishments of
USAMU shooters. The byline on these articles is Paula
J. Randall, the talented U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit
Public Affairs specialist.
We
plan to post some of these articles on our web site and hope that
this effort will keep you informed about our USAMU members who are
competing in matches.
Additionally,
the USAMU
web site has a page devoted to current and recent news stories about
USAMU shooters.
